The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is offering Emergency Medical Care Training Opportunities for unemployed youth. Successful applicants will have the chance to study for a one-year Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care (HCert in EMC) at the KwaZulu-Natal College of Emergency Care.

Entry Requirements:
To be eligible for this training programme, candidates must meet the following academic and additional requirements:
Senior Certificate (Prior to 2008):
- Minimum of E symbol on Higher Grade or D symbol on Standard Grade for all of these subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Biology and/or Physical Sciences
National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate Endorsement:
- Must have the following subjects and rating codes:
- English (Rating Code 3)
- Mathematics (Rating Code 3) or Mathematical Literacy (Rating Code 6)
- Life Sciences (Rating Code 3) and/or Physical Sciences (Rating Code 3)
- Additional Subject 1 (Rating Code 3)
- Additional Subject 2 (Rating Code 3)
National Certificate (Vocational):
- Must have a minimum pass of 60% for all of these subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Life Sciences and/or Physical Sciences
Additional Requirements:
- Minimum APS (Admission Point Score): 18
- Pass a medical fitness examination.
- Pass a physical fitness assessment.
